I've been kind of shocked after seeing him play. You can't really say though how things like that'll turn out. Sometimes, the light just comes on.

From the looks of things they arent putting him in the same role that Lute put him in. Arizona was putting the entire load of ball handling duties on him. They wanted him to be their point guard of the future. If you know anything about Arizona basketball, they depend on their point guards more than about any other team in the nation. It appears that UT has made him into more of a point forward. A guy that can handle the ball some but do some athletic stuff for them and score some points. I like it.

I have no idea what it means for the future as far as recruiting goes. I have heard that he is a good recruiter(hard to recruit at places like Northwestern) but where he stands out is as a great in-game coach. Hes honestly coached better this year than Lute has coached the last few years. Hes got them playing very good defense. They rotate pretty well and hit the glass hard. Hes more of a set-play guy on offense where as Lute ran alot more motion. For the team they have right now, hes a better fit than Lute is. For the future, its really hard to say. Hopefully he can keep doing what hes doing. Next year he will have a good shot at a ring I believe.

I realize he didnt have success at UT. Sometimes its just hard to build a program from the ground up and UT was rock bottom in that era in a league where UK and Arkansas were better than any 2 teams in the nation. Green is a great coach and Donovan has led UF to 2 in a row, but I feel its easier to build a winner in that conference right now compared to years past. Back then, Bama had guys like Horry and Spreewell and Mississippi State was making elite 8 runs. Green has the chance to take the conference by its throat and run with it because its a 2 team race for at least the next 2-3 years. UK is garbage.

Kevin Oneill is a great recruiter. He is the man who recruited Tony Harris,CJ Black,Vincent Yarbrough,Ron Slay and Marcus Haislip. I know Jerry Greens 1st class was Haislip,Slay,Terrence Woods and Harris Walker but Kevin Oneill was the guy who laid the groundwork.

Kevin Oneill is a BS artist.He can shuck n jive with the best of them. Former Vol Brandon Wharton said that Kevin Oneill could sell ice to an Eskimo. I also remember going to the TSSAA Boys State tourney in 1996. I watched CJ Black,Marcus Maybin and Tony Harris down there. Kevin Oneill made sure that everyone knew he was in the house. He was shaking hands like a politician.I will never forget Tony Harris team was going out of the tunnell and Oneill standing there making sure Harris saw him.

When Buzz Peterson was coach he would show up at the state tourney but acted like he didn't want to be seen.
